In February of 2005, Super Bowl XXXIX was played in Jacksonville's Alltel Stadium. Located on the waterfront just east of the downtown area, the stadium was the center point for a week-long celebration along both banks of Jacksonville's beautiful riverfront. This is yet another testament to the success of Jacksonville's growth and emergence into one of the nation's great cities. Only a select few cities have been privileged to host a Super Bowl, and the selection substantiates the climate, infrastructure and entertainment variety that the selection committee considers when choosing Super Bowl sites. Additionally, Jacksonville is home to the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars and the Jacksonville Suns baseball team. The area also is the international headquarters of the PGA TOUR, The Players Championship, the World Golf Hall of Fame and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) headquarters.
